Glass Working Classes Offered through The University of the Arts
The University of the Arts (UArts) is dedicated to the arts, and is the nation's
only accredited university with such a focus. They offer a wide range of courses in
all of the arts - fine, performing,
graphic, communication, visual, verbal, design, broadcast, narrowcast. Through their
continuing education program, UArts brings their diverse offerings to the entire
community.
East Falls Glassworks is proud to host continuing education, glassblowing courses
offered by The
University of the Arts. These hosted offerings are six week courses, taught in the
evening from 6:30 to 9:30.

Course Offerings
Glassblowing: Basics
In this course, you'll learn the basics, off-hand glassblowing techniques and the manipulation
of molten glass at the furnace. Students will progress from solid paperweights into blown forms
like cups and long-necked vases. Every week, different technical skills will be covered with a
heavy emphasis on hands-on time. Open to all levels of experiences, including none. Clear glass
is included in the fee, accent color is an additional expense
Prerequisite: UArts or equivalent introductory glassblowing class

Session Starts: Wednesday, Jan 16th (From 6:30 - 9:30)
Glassblowing: Guided Studio
If you’ve worked with glass to the point where you’ve developed some familiarity but
could stand a bit of workshop experience, consider this course. It’s designed to help
you re-investigate, build and work out your ideas and techniques using hot glass--with
a pro standing by to guide you. Includes demos, discussions, and one-on-one instruction.
Clear glass is included in the fee; accent glass is an additional expense.
Open blowing slots will be made available on Sundays, for a reduced fee, to any student
from this class. Fees for additional shop time will be paid directly to East Falls
Glassworks.
Prerequisite: UArts or equivalent introductory glassblowing class
