This is the process of casting class onto colored powder designs for artist Alain Kirili. Alain is a sculptor of verticality and modeling. His work emphasizes an “aesthetics of spontaneity” and seeks its formal unity through the variety of materials he employs in a quest for “organic simplicity.”  After the glass cools wire is attached to bring life and movement to the organic glass base.

If you are an artist and would like to integrate glass into your body of work or would like to explore glass as a creative medium, give us a call.  There are a huge number of ways that glass can be worked and incorporated into pieces made from other materials.<br

"A beautiful, Swedish glass-and-wrought iron chandelier that was designed by Erik Hoglund in the 1960's was smashed during a break-in of my house in May of 2012. To my amazement, Nikolaj was able to combine the broken bits and pieces of amber glass and make them whole again. There were also completely missing pendants of clear glass, upon each of which a face had been imprinted by the master blowers of Kosta Boda. I did not believe there was any way to recreate them, however Nikolaj carved a face into the end of a piece of graphite that matched the originals and, as if he were block-printing, captured the essence of the originals! It was very clever and probably very time-consuming; I was overawed by his imagination and attention to detail. His charge for all this work was extremely reasonable."

"I came to East Falls Glassworks looking to create a matching wedding cake topper and ceremonial knife for my daughter's wedding. The design I presented Nikolaj and Sean with was of two figures dancing and they replicated it perfectly! Both the knife and the topper were exactly what I was looking for and will make an excellent centerpiece for the wedding."
