Open House Celebration - June 13th

Come one and all to East Falls Glassworks for an open house on June 13th from 1-6pm. We will be showcasing the skills of local glassblowers and giving those who have never had the chance to play with molten glass the chance to make a timeless keepsake.

  • NEW! - If you are under 12 years old and want to draw something for our artist to make live at the studio during the open house, please make a colored drawing and send it to us at the studio along with your name, age, and parents' contact information. You might be the lucky winner will be selected to have your design turned into glass right before your very eyes! It's free to enter and yours to keep, so grab some colored pencils, markers, or crayons and send us your most creative drawing right now!

  • If you are an adult (or over 10 with your parent's permission) curious to give glass a quick try or maybe to make a gift for a special someone, we will be offering the chance to make your own flower, paperweight, or blown ornament for only 25 dollars each! Call or email to guarantee a spot and we'll have an instructor walk you through making a hands-on piece of colorful glass.

    Elio Quarisa in Philadelphia

Our first master glass blowing class, taught by Maestro glassblower Elio Quarisa, was an unqualified success. We've put together a page about the class with pictures and more information about both Maestro Quarisa as well as the class proceedings. We've also posted pictures of some the glass art that Maestro Quarisa made during the class.

    Sherman Mills Arts Council

Sherman Mills Arts Council The complex where we are located, Sherman Mills is a 19th century textile mill that is undergoing a transformation into a vibrant, diverse artists' community. There are 40+ artist studios in the complex, include sculptors, painters, stained glass artists, warm glass artists (slumping and fusing), potters, weavers and others. Sherman Mills is the 2nd largest group of artist studios in Philadelphia and still growing. The community of artists here is amazing. Sherman Mills Arts council (SMArts) is the group that coordinates artistic happenings and special events at Sherman Mills.

Twice seen on "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition"

Hopefully, you were able to see us and our glass art on the Emmy award winning TV series, "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition". We twice worked with Preston Sharp, a designer from the show. Most recently, we made an amazing glass and wrought iron chandelier for Kilgallon (Levittown, PA) family episode of the show. We made kites made from blown glass for the (Northeast Philadelphia) Py family. If you'd like to get more information about our glass kites, please check out the gallery page. You also can check out the Press Release announcing the studio's involvement with the show. Both were great projects and we were privileged to be twice asked to help out.

    January 7th, 2006: Grand Opening

Thanks to all who made our grand opening a huge success. We had a great crowd and lots of glass artists in attendance; it meant a lot to us to see the support from the greater Philadelphia glass blowing community (Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware).
